Flint Hills Resources employees at its east and west refineries have worked 12 consecutive years (4,382 days) without a lost-time incident. A lost-time incident refers to an incident in which an employee misses work due to an injury.
“Safety is a top priority 365 days of the year,” said Valerie Pompa, vice president and manufacturing manager for Flint Hills Resources Corpus Christi. “We take pride in doing every step, every task, every activity safely. Our employees share the commitment to working safely and that shows in the culture of our team and in our ability to accomplish this important milestone. I’m proud of our team and their commitment to one another and our company.”
Flint Hills Resources currently has more than 1,000 full-time employees working at the Corpus Christi facility. Both refineries have earned STAR certification in OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Programs – its top workplace safety designation. The original certification was earned in 2000.
“We are continuously evaluating new ways to run our business safely and efficiently while operating in compliance with all laws and regulations,” Pompa said. “Our goal is to get everyone of the men and women that come to work everyday home to their families at night.
“When we interview potential new hires, we stress our commitment to safety. And as we have filled more than 150 roles in the past several years, we know employees are proud to work for a safe company,” Pompa said.
Flint Hills Resources currently has 68 positions open at its Corpus Christi locations today.
