Employees of Flint Hills Resources and contractors working at its chemical plant here raised $1,500 for Julie Rogers “Gift of Life” Program, a non-profit based in Beaumont, Texas, that provides Southeast Texans extensive educational outreach focused on various cancers. The company contributed an additional $5,000 and presented a check to the organization’s Executive Director Norma Sampson Dec. 10, 2012, at an onsite employee lunch held to mark the special occasion.
All told, organizations serving local citizens, such as the YMCA, Salvation Army and the Hughen Center, will collectively receive $20,000 from Flint Hills Resources in December in support of holiday outreach programs for adults and children.
"We want to give back and make a difference in Port Arthur and Southeast Texas,” Jeff Tilley, Flint Hills Resources plant manager, said. “Supporting those in need and educating youth are part of our community focus.”
Norma Sampson, said, “We are extremely appreciative to receive this gift and deeply grateful for everyone’s generosity. Flint Hills Resources’ holiday gift will make a tremendous difference in our program services by helping to make available free breast and prostate cancer screenings and access to treatment.”
Flint Hills Resources’ chemical plant in Port Arthur, Texas, has about 200 employees; employees of contractors working at the site may number up to 200 more on various days.
