Flint Hills Resources today committed $10,000 to the Chisholm Trail Fire Rescue emergency services department that serves 115 square miles in Hays and Caldwell counties.
“We appreciate this contribution and are committed to meeting the Flint Hills challenge,” said Donovan Kokel, fire chief. “It will certainly assist us as we secure critical equipment for our new water tender, purchased through a grant from the Texas Forest Service.”
Flint Hills Resources contributed an initial $5,000 with the challenge that the department match that amount to receive the other $5,000.
Kokel and Chisholm Trail volunteers were joined by County Commissioner Neto Madrigal and Kevin Robinson, Flint Hills Resources terminal manager. Robinson presented the check to Kokel at the fire station in Dale.
Chisholm Trail Fire Rescue covers Niederwald, Mustang Ridge, Lytton Springs and Uhland, and uses trained volunteers as well as designated staff.
“Flint Hills Resources is happy to support the critical services that Chisholm Trail Fire Rescue provides surrounding communities,” Robinson said. Flint Hills Resources operates a fuel terminal on Lone Star Road. “We hope today’s donation kicks off a strong fundraising program as the organization works to outfit its new water truck.”
