The Boys and Girls Club announced today a $75,000 gift from Koch Industries, Inc. The announcement was made by the club’s new leader, Chief Professional Officer Juston White, at the 2nd Quarter Academic Assembly. The gift will help support the Education and Career Development program at the club.
“Koch Industries is pleased to partner with the Boys and Girls Club as they work to help the young people in our community who most need their support,” said Koch Community Affairs Director Laura Hands. “We celebrate with all of the students here today as they are recognized for their achievements.”
“Our education and career development curriculum enables youth to increase proficiency in basic educational disciplines, setting goals, exploring careers, preparing for post-secondary education, and embracing technology, ” White said.
White started in his position with the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas on September 22, 2014. He is responsible for managing the strategic planning and day-to-day operation of the organization.
“I’ve focused my career path on the advancement of youth, especially those who face difficult obstacles in life,” White said. “My role with the Boys and Girls Club allows me to impact the lives of hundreds of youth. I will strive to be a passionate, mission-focused leader dedicated to servicing the Wichita community in which I was raised.”
The key goals for the club, White said, are engaging families and community members as the club actively supports healthy lifestyles, character development and academic achievement for kids.
White has held multiple positions with Youthville in Wichita and Dodge City, and most recently served as the Kansas Kids @ GEAR UP Regional Coordinator at Wichita State University. He serves on the board of the Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County.
