Koch Industries Becomes An ENERGY STAR® Program Partner

March 25, 2015

Koch Industries, Inc. has joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR program as an ENERGY STAR Partner. Among the Koch companies participating in the program are: Flint Hills Resources, Koch Pipeline Company, Georgia-Pacific, Koch Ag & Energy Solutions, INVISTA, Koch Engineered Solutions, Molex and Koch Minerals. Through voluntary partnership in this strategic, corporate energy management program, these Koch companies will work to improve energy performance at their facilities across the U.S. and worldwide.

“We recognize the importance of effective, enterprise-wide energy management as a source of value creation and environmental stewardship,” said Ernie Schutt, managing director, operations excellence for Koch Industries. “Joining the ENERGY STAR program as a partner enables our companies to strengthen their current energy management programs, as well as their ability to discover and implement innovative ideas designed to reduce energy usage, improve energy efficiency and reduce resource consumption.”

Koch companies have a diverse range of manufacturing processes and energy requirements, and employees share energy best practices through a network of energy team leaders. In September 2014, Koch Industries held a global energy conference focused on knowledge sharing, collaboration, meeting key resources and skill development. “Koch’s decision to participate in ENERGY STAR is an excellent example of how government and industry can work together in a voluntary manner to promote energy efficiency as a smart business strategy and to show exceptional environmental leadership,” said Elizabeth Dutrow, director industrial sector partnership, ENERGY STAR.

“Partnership with ENERGY STAR is a great fit for our companies’ existing energy programs,” said Brad Runda, global energy director for Koch Industries. “The resources, benchmarking and networking available as an ENERGY STAR Partner will help our companies improve their energy initiatives, and we look forward to the opportunity to share knowledge with others.”
